- DESCRIPTION:
- The National Weather Service (NWS) operates and maintains a network of 2,200 recording precipitation gauges at locations throughout the 50 United States. These gauges are Fischer and Porter/Belfort (F&P) models 35-1558 and 35-1559. These gauges record precipitation accumulation amounts, at 15 minute intervals, on a punched paper tape.
The Sutron Fischer Porter Precipitation Gauge Upgrade Kit converts these gauges to a digital recorder. The kit comes complete with a precision load cell for making the measurement, Sutron data recorder with display, rechargeable battery and solar panel.
The kit can be installed in the field using simple tools in less than 1 hour.
The data recorder automatically measures and records precipitation at user -set intervals. The front panel allows for easy viewing of the data and setup. The recorder also is wired to measure temperature (sensor not provided). Additional measurements can be added at the factory. A precision clock keeps the time in the recorder accurate to 2 minutes a month. A two-point calibration routine is built-in to simplify field calibration of the sensor using the standard NWS 15” calibration weights.
Data is available on the front panel and via the SD card slot, RS232, or SDI-12. The system easily interfaces to GOES Satellite Transmitters and wireless modems for integration into an automatic data collection system.
