The RoHS directive is a European-derived initiative which requires elimination of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment. The elimination of these materials would facilitate the safety of human health and the environmentally-sound recovery and disposal of waste electrical and electronic components.
All products designed and manufactured at or by Sutron have been reviewed, and determined to fall into Category 9 (Monitoring and Control Instruments). They are covered by the Directive 2011/65/EU under Article 2 section (4) (c) and Article 2 Section (4) (e) to be read in conjecture with Article 3 Section (4).
The definition of large-scale installations in Article 3 Section (4) as interpreted by full text of the Directive 2011/65/EU of the European Parliament is quoted below:
“ ‘large-scale fixed installation’ means a large-scale combination of several types of apparatus and, where applicable, other devices, which are assembled and installed by professionals, intended to be used permanently in a pre-defined and dedicated location, and de-installed by professionals”
The Article 2 section (4) (c) as interpreted by full text of the Directive 2011/65/EU of the European Parliament is quoted below:
“(c) equipment which is specifically designed, and is to be installed, as part of another type of equipment that is excluded or does not fall within the scope of this Directive, which can fulfil its function only if it is part of that equipment, and which can be replaced”
Category 9 equipment is currently excluded from the requirements of the RoHS directive until 22nd July 2017.The Timeline graph is provided below for clarification.
