GROUNDWATER MONITORING


THE STATE OF MISSOURI CONTRACTED SUTRON TO DESIGN, BUILD & INSTALL THE FIRST STATE-WIDE GROUNDWATER MONITORING PROGRAM LAUNCHED IN THE US.

GOAL: COLLECT LIVE DATA EVERY 15 MINUTES FROM 70 GROUNDWATER WELLS TO MANAGE AND EXTEND THE STATE’S WATER RESOURCES

The Missouri real-time groundwater monitoring system is the first statewide program ever to be launched in the United States.

Sutron was awarded a contract from the State of Missouri Department of Natural Resources to supply remote Data Collection Platforms for groundwater well monitoring stations throughout the state. The initial $120,648 June contract to install 24 Sutron Data Collection Platforms was enlarged by an additional $251,000 in August.

The Missouri DCPs consist of the Sutron 8210 Data Recorder, including an internal GOES Satellite transmitter, Incremental Shaft Encoders, and all accessories.

The Missouri real-time groundwater monitoring system is the first statewide program ever to be launched in the United States. Live data will be collected every 15 minutes from the 70 major groundwater wells across the State. Acquisition and use of this real-time data will advance Missouri’s ability to manage and extend water reserves - the world’s single most important, critical, and limited natural resource. It is anticipated that this trend to automate collection of groundwater data will continue in other states that depend on groundwater for agricultural purposes and municipal water supplies.
