Electrical & Control Panel Builder

Electrical & Control Panel Builder

Sutron Corporation currently has an opening for an Electrical & Control Panel Builder. This person will layout, wire and build monitoring weather and control panels using electrical schematics.

Responsibilities include:

  • Layout panels/enclosures following wiring diagrams and schematics
  • Mounting of components into enclosures
  • Wiring control panels per specifications
  • Assist purchasing with material ordering

Preferred Experience

  • Building and/or testing Control Panels
  • Understanding Bills of Materials and Schematics
  • Computer knowledge, Word, Excel, etc.
  • Sizing control and power transformers
  • Sizing conductors, fuses, motor starters, & overloads for motor applications
  • Wiring devices such as sensors and actuators to control panels
  • Raceway installation and wire pulling

Ideal candidate must be able to:

  • Read and wire from an electrical schematic and Bills of Material
  • Have good knowledge of electrical controls components
  • Be dependable and detail orientated
  • Have the ability to perform a variety of complex tasks requiring knowledge of panel assembly
  • Working knowledge of UL508a, UL1995, and NEC standards for panel building

Enjoy working in a clean and climate controlled facility. Shift hours are typically 8:30am – 4:30pm, Mon – Fri. Overtime when available

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot and repair (to discrete components) equipment in for repair
  • Complete failure analysis report for repaired equipment
  • Field customer support phone calls and email’s
  • Perform customer training in class and in a field setting

Qualifications

  • A.S. degree in Electronics or equivalent
  • 2-4 years’ experience in troubleshooting analog, digital and RF circuits
  • Be able to read schematics and troubleshoot to component level
  • Some experience with MS Office, Word, Excel and Access is preferred

  • Proficient in electronics, industrial instrumentation and controls, electrical engineering and programming.
  • Design, develop, test, or supervise the manufacturing and installation of electrical equipment, components, or systems for commercial, industrial, military, or scientific use, specifically remote data collections systems, remote telemetry, automation and control systems
  • Experience with sensors, data acquisition systems and radio frequencies a plus
  • Development of equipment specifications and performance requirement documentation for our products
  • Assist with cost analysis and proposal development to integrate control systems and remote telemetry equipment
  • Prepare start-up procedures to ensure proper equipment installation and maintenance

This position is with Sutron’s R&D department. Sutron designs sensors, data recorders, communications devices and supporting equipment to measure the environment. Our products are used to measure the climate and water resources around the world. The R&D department has need of talented electrical engineers to help design these important products. The primary emphasis of this position is to assist in the design and testing of the circuitry and software that goes into our products.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • MS EE
  • Demonstrated proficiency in circuit design
  • Emphasis in one or more of the following areas: sensors, instrumentation, A/D, RF, DSP, UWB, communications, control systems, PCB design, automated test, embedded design.

EMBEDDED HARDWARE & SOFTWARE ENGINEER

Qualifications

  • MS-EE or MS Computer Engineering
  • MS with emphasis in embedded programming.

PRODUCT DESIGN ENGINEER

Qualifications

  • Education: ET or BSEE
  • Good understanding of Basic Electronics and electronic test equipment.
  • Experience with test and troubleshooting of electronic circuits.
  • Basic Computer skills including being able to work with office software and PC hardware such as serial ports, modems, test programs
  • Experience with one or more of the following: VB, JAVA, C, C++, Labview, etc. programming
  • The ability to write small test programs with use of serial, modem and tcpip ports

WATER RESOURCES ENGINEER (HYDRAULICS)

QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS or Masters Degree in Water Resources Engineering or Hydraulics
  • PE in Florida is not required but highly desirable.
  • Experience with flow measurement using Acoustic Doppler Current Profilers (ADCP) is required.

Additionally, we are looking for experience in the following areas:

  • Flow and Stage Data Analysis (Rating Curve Analysis & Development)
  • Knowledge of USGS Standards of Flow Measurements
  • Field experience with Hydro-Meteorological Data Collection
  • Knowledge of Hydraulics and Fluid Measurement Theory
  • Use of Statistical Tools for Data Analysis
  • Programming Experience and Knowledge of General Programming Tools are a plus (Visual Basic, C/c++, Matlab, Mathematica etc…)

ELECTRICAL ENGINEER

Work with Sutron’s Integrated Systems group to design Sutron’s stations & systems which include sensors, data recorders and telemetry devices. Sutron’s systems are installed all over the world to help monitor and manage the environment.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • BS Electrical Engineering
  • Legal proof of right to work permanently in the US required
  • Research, develop, design, implement and test electronic components and products, including component systems.
  • Full Time – Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm, No overtime
  • Work in Sterling, VA, and occasionally work sites all over the world. Travel as needed.
  • Bi-Lingual English & Spanish is a plus.

SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER

QUALIFICATIONS

  • BSCS or BSEE Engineering Degree
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Delphi required.
  • Experience with imbedded SQL considered a plus.
  • Programmer to develop and support data acquisition software and database applications.
  • Many international and domestic travel opportunities required to install and train at customer sites.
  • Good communications skills essential.
