WIND SENSOR
PROP VANE
5600-0200

Improved reliability and lower cost thanks to rugged, light weight, sea air and pollutant corrosion-resistant construction

  • Rugged, corrosion-resistant construction makes this high performance wind sensor ideal for a wide range of wind measuring applications.
  • The four blade helicoid propeller rotation produces an AC sine wave voltage signal. Vane angle is sensed by a precision potentiometer.
  • Mounts on standard 1 inch pipe.
  • Constructed of UV stabilized thermoplastic with stainless steel and anodized aluminum fittings
  • Propeller rotation produces AC sine wave voltage signal with frequency directly proportional to wind speed.
  • Slip rings & brushes eliminated for increased reliability
  • Excellent fidelity in varying wind conditions
  • Precision potentiometer located in sealed chamber
  • Cable terminations in junction box on mounting post for ease in making sensor cable connections.
  • A 5 conductor cable is required for power and sensor connections.
  • Precision grade stainless steel precision ball bearings
  • Injection-molded helicoid shape propeller
  • Propeller rotation produces AC sine wave voltage signal with frequency directly proportional to wind speed.
  • AC voltage signal induced in a centrally mounted coil by a six pole magnet mounted on propeller shaft.
  • Coil located on the nonrotating central portion of the main mounting assembly, eliminating the need for slip rings and brushes
  • Assures good fidelity in varying wind conditions
  • Vane position sensed by a precision conductive plastic 10K ohm potentiometer located in sealed chamber below wind speed transducer coil.
  • Regulated excitation voltage applied to potentiometer element produces an analog DC voltage directly proportional to azimuth angle.
  • Transducer coil and potentiometer leads end in junction box on mounting post for ease in making sensor cable connections.
  • A 5 conductor cable is required for power and sensor connections.
  • Stainless steel precision ball bearings in propeller and vertical shaft
  • Orientation ring for maintaining wind direction reference if instrument removed for maintenance
