Professional
quality wind sensor suitable for a wide range
of wind measurement applications
Thermoplastic construction
Excellent corrosion resistance
Low sensor weight
Minimal parts.
The anemometer has three
hemispherical molded plastic cups. Cup wheel
rotation produces an AC sine wave voltage
signal with frequency proportional to wind
speed. The AC signal is induced in a coil
by a two-pole circular magnet mounted on
the cup wheel shaft. One complete sine wave
cycle is produced for each cup wheel revolution.
The Anemometer has a sensor interface that
provides a 0-5VDC output pulse. The Wind
Direction sensor is a balanced vane assembly
made of plastic and molded directly on an
anodized aluminum shaft. Vane position (azimuth)
is sensed by a precision conductive plastic
10k ohm potentiometer which requires a regulated
excitation voltage. The output signal is
an analog DC voltage directly proportional
to azimuth angle. Transducer coil and potentiometer
leads terminate in a junction box on mounting
post for ease in making sensor cable connections.
A 5 conductor cable is required for power
and sensor connections. The mounting bracket
requires a standard 1inch pipe. Construction
is principally of rigid UV stabilized thermoplastic
with stainless steel and anodized aluminum
fittings. Cup wheel bearings and vane bearings
are stainless steel precision ball bearings.
