This optional speech modem
provides easy access to data using either
a modem or standard telephone (voice). The
modem module offers 1200 baud communications
that are fully BELL- and CCITT- compatible.
The modem supports both auto-answer and
autodial capabilities. The 8200A/8210 can
be queried for data and reprogrammed over
the phone link using PCs running Sutron’s
PCBASE2 software. The speech synthesizer
allows ready access to data without a personal
computer. A base vocabulary, designed around
hydrologic and meteorological applications,
is provided. Full custom vocabulary and
vocabulary ex ten sions (such as site names)
are available as options. The software supports
alert and warning level dial-out alarms
with dead band capability. Users have complete
control over the dial-in and dial-out messages,
including which parameters are reported,
how messages are phrased, and number of
repeats.
