The following pertains only to Satlink2-V2 GOES Transmitters (SL2-G312-V2) that support the new NOAA NESDIS V2.0 DCS (V2) Specifications (C2V2.0 NESDIS standards).
Customers with new V2 compliant transmitters, please consult NESDIS regarding channel assignment and be certain to indicate that your transmitters are V2 units. NESDIS has to verify that the TX channel is a V2-ready channel or the unit cannot be properly received.
Use the latest Satlink Communicator Program supplied (7.07) for successful programming of Satlink V2. There is no need to upgrade the Communicator if you don’t have a V2 unit.
NESDIS DOES NOT PERMIT FIELD UPGRADES FOR CONVERTING TO V2. If you want to convert existing Part #SL2-G312-1 or Part #SL2-G312-1B (both CS1.0B) to the new SL2-G312-V2 units, please contact Sutron Customer Service for factory permitted upgrades.
Currently there are no plans to convert Satlink1's (manufactured between 2001 to 2003) to V2 compatible operation.
DON’T WORRY about existing transmitters in the field. They will remain compatible as they are for 12 more years or untilMay 2023.
Manufacturerers may continue to sell V1.0B compatible transmitters until May 2012.
Customers may continue to get assignments from NESDIS for V1.0B transmitters until May 2013 to accommodate any quantity left in warehouses.
